Original Quaker Oats Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

Desserts, Cookies
Serves: 24 cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned)
  • 1 cup raisins

Instructions

1

Heat oven to 350-F.

2

Put the butter and both sugars in a stand mixer or mixing bowl. Cream together using a paddle attachment on medium speed, a handheld electric whisk or a wooden spoon for 1 to 2 minutes until paler but not fluffy. (Do not mix for too long; if you beat the mixture until super light and fluffy, that will cause the cookie to deflate later when cooking.)

3

Add eggs and vanilla; beat well

4

Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.

5

Stir in the oats and raisins; mix well.

6

Drop by rounded tablespoons onto uncreased cookie sheet.

7

Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

8

Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack.

9

Bar cookies: Bake 30-35 minutes in ungreased 13 x 9 inch metal baking pan.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
