Stir-Fried Baby Bok Choy

Adapted from

  • 1 1/2 lbs baby bok choy, halved, about 4
  • 4 tablespoons sesame oil (I use 3 tablespoons of oil total: 1 tablespoon sesame oil and 2 tablespoons olive oil)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced (I use 2)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (I use 2 tablespoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (taste before adding since soy sauce is so salty)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, for serving

  1. Cut bok choy in half and then clean under running water; pat to dry.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet. Place as many bok choy halves (cut side down) that will fit without over crowding. Cook until lightly browned. Remove from pan and continue until all bok choy have been browned.
  3. Return all the bok choy to the pan, along with the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a simmer, stirring bok choy until well-coated.
  4. Cook for another 2 minutes and remove from heat.
  5. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
