This is the stuffing my grandma always made at Thanksgiving. It is a family favorite.
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 tablespoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 onion, minced
- 6 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 bunch flat leaf parsley, chopped
- 1 granny smith apple, chopped
- 2 small red apples, chopped
- 1 cup turkey or chicken broth (preferably from the pan of the roasted turkey)
- 3/4 loaf white sandwich bread
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Add the meat and cook until the meat is well browned and sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Add allspice, salt, and pepper and stir.
- Add the onion, celery, and parsley; cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped apples; cook for 3 minutes.
- Add the broth; stir until heated through.
- Add the bread, and sugar; stir until well combined.
- Cover the pan and simmer for 15 minutes.
