Frosting & Glaze

Chocolate or Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

  • 6 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1.5 cups confectioners’ sugar 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • For chocolate frosting add 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Beat together the butter and vanilla with an electric mixer. Add confectioners’ sugar and cocoa (if making chocolate, a little at a time until smooth and creamy. If it seems too thick, add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is achieved.

Chocolate Glaze

  • 1.5 cups confectioner’s sugar 
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1-3 tablespoons milk

Vanilla Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1-3 tablespoon milk

Lemon Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice, more as desired
  • 1-3 tablespoon milk

Mix everything together in a bowl until smooth. If it seems too thick, add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is achieved.

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1/2 cup (113g) cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons (43g) butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cup (150g) confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Beat together the butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer. With the mixer on low speed, add the powdered sugar, a little at a time, until smooth and creamy. Beat in the vanilla extract. If it seems too thick, add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is achieved.

  • LEMON GLAZE
  • Lemon Glaze
  • Just add lemon juice and a little milk to some powdered sugar to make a thin glaze.
