Broiled Salmon with Honey Soy Glaze

Dinner, Main Course Seafood
Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 pound center-cut salmon fillet, cut into 4 portions
  • 1 scallion, minced
  • 4 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds, for serving

Instructions

1

Whisk scallion, soy sauce, vinegar, honey, and ginger in a medium bowl until the honey is dissolved.

2

Place salmon in a sealable plastic bag, add the sauce and refrigerate; let marinate for 30 minutes or up to 3 hours.

3

Preheat broiler.

4

Transfer salmon to a sheet pan. Pour the marinade into a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes until sauce thickens.

5

Broil the salmon 4 to 6 inches from the heat source until cooked through, 6 to 10 minutes.

6

Toast the sesame seeds by tossing them around in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes.

7

Drizzle with the sauce and garnish with sesame seeds.

Notes

For crispy skin: Dry off the skin very well after removing the salmon from the marinade. Brush a mixture of butter and oil (or just oil) on the skin. Sprinkle with a little salt and pepper. Place the salmon, skin side up, on the sheet pan. Keep an eye on it after about 5 minutes of cooking. If it’s getting too brown, lay a piece of tin foil on top for the remaining cooking time.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
