Black or Pinto Beans
Ingredients
- 1 bag (2 cups/12oz/340g) black or pinto beans
- 2 tablespoons (1oz/28g) cumin
- 1 tablespoon (0.5oz/14g) turmeric
- 2 tablespoons ((1oz/28g) oregano
- 1 1/3 teaspoons (0.22oz/6g) black pepper
- 1 1/3 teaspoons (0.22oz/6g) salt
Instructions

Rinse beans, then place in a large bowl and cover with 2 inches of water. Allow to soak at room temperature 8 hours or overnight.

Drain and rinse beans.

Place beans in a large pot and add 6 cups of fresh water.

Add all spices, except salt.

Bring to a boil, then reduce and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until tender.

Add salt.
